The Labour Standards Branch promotes and enforces provincial employment standards established under The Labour Standards Act. The Act provides in depth information pertaining to legislation  and regulations on annual holidays, hours of work, minimum wages and other employment standards.

Information on prosecutions, convictions and acquittals under Saskatchewan's Labour Standards Act and regulations and The Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.

The Saskatchewan Minimum Wage Board is reviewing the minimum wage and invites members of the public to participate. Public involvement is important, and the board invites the public to submit their opinions, concerns and experience with the minimum wage by October 30, 2009.

Family Day will be observed on Monday, February 15, 2010.  See Public (Statutory) Holidays on Page 12 of the Rights and Responsibilities booklet for information about calculating payment for Public Holidays, work on a public holiday and overtime during the week in which a public holiday occurs.

The Labour Standards Compliance and Review Unit (CR Unit), will accept and investigate anonymous or third party complaints and will initiate targeted audits where there is specific evidence to suggest non-compliance with The Labour Standards Act and Regulations.

In cooperation with the Saskatchewan Dental Hygenists' Association, Labour Standards Information for the Dental Industry has been prepared to help employers and employees understand labour standards.

In cooperation with the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association, Labour Standards Information for the Restaurant and Foodservices Industry has been prepared to help employers and employees understand labour standards.

In September, 2007 new labour laws were introduced that provide added job security for Reservists, repeal the "Northern Overtime Exemption", and provide changes to Minimum Call-Out.

Here are some tips for young workers, parents and employers.

The Rights and Responsibilities document informs employers and employees alike about work schedules, overtime, public holidays, annual vacation, benefits for part-time employees, payroll administration, terminations, parental leave, time off for illness or injury, equal pay, permits/licenses/variations, domestic and home workers, complaints and enforcement, and commercial hog barn workers.
