Province Takes Action to Assist Vulnerable Workers V. Lynne Pearson (Chair)Mrs. Pearson has been the Dean of the College of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan, since August 1996. In late 2004, she also was appointed the Designated Dean for the College of Biotechnology. Previously, she was Queen's Printer for Canada and the Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Communication Group, a special operating agency of the Government of Canada. Before joining CCG, Mrs. Pearson was Chief Executive Officer of Consulting and Audit Canada. Prior to that, she held the position of Executive Director of Training Programs Branch at the Public Service Commission of Canada (PSC) and CEO of Training and Development Canada. Before joining the PSC, Mrs. Pearson was Assistant Deputy Minister, Saskatchewan Region, Western Economic Diversification Canada, and the Federal Economic Development Coordinator for Saskatchewan for the federal government. Earlier, she held senior positions with the federal and Saskatchewan governments, including Regional Director General, Saskatchewan Region, Employment and Immigration Canada; and Deputy Minister of the Saskatchewan Department of Consumer and Commercial Affairs. Mrs. Pearson is Immediate Past-Chair of the Board of Directors of the CSA Group. She had previously chaired the Standards Development Policy Board and the Certification and Testing Board. For four years she served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Quality Management Institute. She is a member of several other Board of Directors including: the Canadian Wheat Board, the Centre for Financial Services Ombudsnetwork, and Past-President of the Saskatoon United Way. She was Secretary/Treasurer of the Canadian Federation of Business School Deans for five years. In 1998, she chaired a provincial Task Force on Balancing Work and Family. In June 2005, she received the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award for Lifetime Achievement. In May 2002, she received the prestigious Athena Award from the Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce and Business and Professional Women's Club, and in September 2002 received the Lt. Governor's Gold Medal for distinguished public service, from the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. Mrs. Pearson teaches in the areas of management of change and business/government relations. She is also sought as a speaker on the topics of women in management, leadership, and work and family balance. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Mrs. Pearson received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1966, and a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa a year later. In 1971 she completed a Master of Arts degree at the University of Alberta. She and her husband have a grain farm near Regina, and have two adult children, and a grandchild. |
