WorkSafe Saskatchewan is a partnership between the Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour and the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) intended to promote positive safety cultures in Saskatchewan workplaces. In 2008, the partners signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which committed the partners to:

  • Develop a single, integrated provincial prevention strategy focused on the elimination of work injuries
  • Respect independence of the partners to administer their respective legislation and regulations
  • Complete harmonization of planning processes
  • Promote prevention and safety
  • Target proactive field services, including education, training and inspections Facilitate education and training
  • Use standardized data sets and analytical processes
  • Share available resources and information to develop and coordinate initiatives that advance prevention activities
  • Partner with other groups concerned with WorkSafe Saskatchewan mission objectives
  • Foster supportive public policy.

More than 40,000 workers report injuries to the Workers' Compensation Board each year. Zero is the only acceptable number of work-related injuries. All people in Saskatchewan must work together to promote cultures of health and safety in Saskatchewan workplaces and to identify hazards that increase the risk of injury.
